Creating products for vendors at CopeCart: step-by-step instructions and options

In this article, you as a vendor will learn how to easily create your own products on CopeCart.

From the step-by-step instructions to the various customization options, we'll guide you through the process of creating your offers. Let's work together to turn your ideas into products that will delight your customers.


How to create your product on CopeCart

The first step is to log in to your CopeCart account. After logging in, your personal dashboard will open. Here you have the option of selecting various tabs on the left-hand side. Click on the "Products" tab and then on "New product" in the top right-hand corner.

First, select the right category for your product. To help you, we have created a detailed help article in which each category is described with suitable examples. In addition, our product wizard chat is available to help you categorize your product at any time.

Tip: Use our product assistant chat to quickly and easily find the right category for your product.

The chat is available around the clock and offers immediate support!

Once you have selected your product type, enter the name of your product in the "Product name" column. In the next column, enter the price of your product.

New function: Edit product types

You can now change the product type of your product even after it has been created! You can see exactly how this works in this short video. However, please note the following exceptions:

Change not possible after 30 days: If 30 days have already passed since your product was created. In this case, simply use the “clone function” to create a new product with the desired product type.

Change not possible after the product is sold: If your product has already been sold. Here too, you can use the “clone function” to create a new product with a different product type.

Change not possible when it is an addon: If your product already has configured connections with other products. The “clone function” will also help you here.

Change not possible when it´s a CopeTicket: The product type “CopeTicket” cannot be edited. You would have to create a new product here.

Note: As soon as the category has been changed, the product goes back to the status “active under review” and will be checked and released by us within 48 hours (working days).

Product description

Please write a detailed product description of at least 250 characters. Once completed, please click on the "Create product" button at the bottom right to be redirected to a new window.

Upload product image

A suitable image is required for your product (mandatory field). Please note the following requirements:

  • Format: The product image must be in JPG or PNG format.

  • File size: The maximum file size is 2 MB.

  • Image size: The recommended image size is 740 × 500 pixels.

Make sure you choose a high-quality and appealing image, as it makes an important first impression on your customers.

Adding Multiple Images

Please note that you can only add additional images after the product has been created. When creating a new product, this option is not initially available. Once the product is created, you can upload and manage as many images as you like on the product edit page.

Important: If your product was already active, it will undergo a new review after adding more images. During this review, the product will be in "active under review" status. This process typically takes around 48 hours on business days.

Product description

You have already filled in your description in the second step. You have the option of adding to or editing your description.

Product Promotion URL

If you sell products via CopeCart and use PayPal as a payment method, it is necessary to provide a sales URL, i.e. a link to the website where customers can purchase the product.

Tags

Enter different words here that match your product. For example, if your product is a book about nutrition, suitable tags could be health, nutrition, lifestyle, etc.

Upload product

If you have selected the product type "Digital product", you can make your e-book, PDF or similar products available to your customers for download.

Upsell Funnel

If you have already created an upsell funnel for your product, you can add your funnel here to offer your customers additional products in the next order step.

Thank you page

It is possible to add an individual thank you page, which your customer will land on after completing the order process. Please note that this thank you page must contain the note "Copecart will be debited". Alternatively, you can omit the individual thank you page and your customer will receive the standard CopeCart thank you page instead.

Product availability

Here you can set whether your product is an unlimited or limited offer.

Product options

Here you can define product categories and set individual selection options. For example, if your product has different sizes, as is the case with clothing, this allows your customer to select a suitable individual size.

Set active time for the product

Here you can specify whether it is a time-limited offer, for example a Black Friday promotion or similar.

Addon product/order bump

Here you can display additional offers in your order form, which are ideal as a supplement to your original product, for example.

Payment details/ promo codes

Here you can select whether the price is displayed net or gross. You also have the option of activating the option here so that customers can use a voucher code for your offer.

Allow multiple purchases

Here you can choose whether your customer can add your product to the shopping cart more than once.

Free trial period

Here you can specify whether the customer can test your product free of charge for a certain period of time, for example to check the quality.

Payment plans

Here you can specify whether the order is made as a one-off payment, installment payment or as part of a subscription.

Payment options

The next step takes you to the available payment methods for your product. Here you can select which payment method the customer can use to purchase your product.

Refund Setting/cancellation period

Among other things, you can specify how long your returns policy is valid for. You can choose from options such as 14 days, 30 days, 60 days or no returns.

Selling restrictions by country/customer type

Do you only want to offer your products in certain countries, such as the DACH region? In the next step under "Sales restrictions by country", you have the option of selecting the countries in which your customers can order. You can also define your customer type and choose whether your product can only be sold to private individuals, only to companies or to both.

Contract Fulfillment Data

Please select which information the customer must provide in the order form for an order.

Order form

In the next step, you can select the design of the order form. Here you can specify whether your checkout is a one-step (1-step) or two-step (2-step) form.

Activate affiliate program

Joint venture partnerships

If other vendors are involved in your product, you have the option of establishing a joint venture partnership. This means that the shares are divided directly in the event of a sale.

Integrations (IPN)

Here you can specify whether interfaces should be activated for this product (IPN). This could be an integration with email marketing software, for example. You can find out more about IPN integration here.

Tracking

If you want to set up additional tracking for your sales, first go to your account settings to set up tracking.

Notifications

Here you have the option of specifying which of your customers' actions you would like to be informed about. To do this, enter an e-mail address to which the notifications should be forwarded. You can find more information here.

Customize checkout template

If you would also like to send your customers a newsletter, the "Customize checkout template" section allows you to choose whether the newsletter is already included in the product or whether a clickable box is displayed. This allows the customer to decide for themselves whether they want to subscribe to the newsletter.

When you are happy with all the settings for your product, click on the green save button in the top right-hand corner to save all the changes. We hope you enjoy creating your products.

Note on the automatic deletion of inactive products

Products that do not generate any sales within 24 months of their creation are automatically flagged for deletion. If one of these products is not sold within the next seven days, it will be permanently removed from your account.

To avoid this, you can customize the product, e.g. by changing the description, pricing or other settings to influence the sales figures.
